Apple Media Tool allows users to create interactive multimedia projects for BOTH Macintosh and Windows computers. It is designed to be easy-to-learn and easy-to-use.
By double clicking on the installer, a demo version of AMT 2.0 will automatically be installed on your local hard disk. Do not drag copy the application. This Demo version will allow users to open, create and save projects.
The AMT Demo version in this folder is NOT a complete version of the product:
• The Demo version will not allow you to create a runtime of your project. You will be able to view and run your project but it will be uncompiled and will only run on a Macintosh personal computer.
• The FULL version of AMT contains a utility called "Runtime Maker" that allows users to compile finished project for both Macintosh and Windows personal computers. In addition to generating cross-platform runtimes, the compilation process improves the performance of a project.
• The FULL version of AMT also includes a number of utilities that make the development of cross-platform titles easier:
>>Apple Media Tool Converter - an application program that provides a set of conversion utilities related to media file formats, cross-platform compatibility, and older versions of projects.
>>Runtime Maker - an application program that compiles Apple Media Tool projects into titles that play on the Mac OS and Microsoft Windows Platforms.

For professional multimedia teams, there is a companion product called the Apple Media Tool Programming Environment available from APDA (1 800 282-2732, Apple Link: APDA). This is an object-oriented development environment that features a class library and a rich inheritance model. Like the Apple Media Tool, code created with the Apple Media Tool Programming Environment compiles to both Macintosh and Windows personal computers. AMTPE can be used to extend, enhance and optimize projects started with AMT.
